Il tema del viaggio come condizione esistenziale è al centro di quest’opera. Kounellis, uno dei protagonisti dell’Arte Povera, ha fissato su una striscia di lamiere una successione di putrelle, simili a spezzoni di binari. Tra le putrelle e le lamiere sono incastrati un soprabito e un cappello, che rimandano alla figura dell’artista, qualche trenino-giocattolo e numerose paia di scarpe consumate.

The theme of travel as an existential condition is at the heart of this work in which Kounellis, one of the founding figures of Arte Povera, has attached a series of iron beams resembling pieces of track to a strip of sheet metal. Wedged between the iron beams and the sheet metal are a hat and coat that hint at the figure of the artist, some toy trains and numerous pairs of worn-out shoes.
